What is PR? “Chronicles from a Hollywood PR Rookie”

Lets start from point A. For those who make their Hollywood judgements from Entourage, Shauna (Debi Mazar), is Vincent Chase’s publicist. While you see her sarcastic temperament and constant badgering, what you fail to grasp is what a publicist actually is... and no, not ALL publicists exude the attitude of Shauna. Myself, a rookie in terms of PR, really had no idea what PR was or what I was getting myself into until I began interning for Andrew E. Freedman Public Relations. Headed by spouses Andrew Freedman (the former Spokesman for NBC News and all News Programming) and Patty Dworkin, now Patty Freedman (formerly an actress whose specialty is actors and Broadway personalities), AEFPR has represented and currently represents a wide range of clientele from Hollywood stars to global brands.

Enough about them...

Public Relations is the backbone of the entertainment industry. It is an art form -- the communication between a person or organization and their publics. Without conveying proper exposure to audiences, brands (both individual and corporate) would not exist.

Has it clicked yet? Look left... look right... look at the logo of your computer or smart phone. Everything consumed by the public, whether a Chiquita banana or going to go see the next Adam Sandler comedy at the movie theater, is due to the efforts of public relations professionals. THE WORLD REVOLVES AROUND PR.
